Job Description

Our government client is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a Tester:


Tasks include:

  1. Review Current Situation
    1. Scope Organization objectives and goals
    2. Review current documentation
    3. Review applications under test


  1. Review Findings and Prepare Report
    1. Document findings and Identify recommendations
    2. Document Standards, Templates and Guidelines, modify them to match Treasury Board of Canada  policies and documentation standards
    3. Prepare Roadmap if applicable
    4. Identify training requirements if applicable


  1. Performance Test Planning
    1. Strategy planning & scheduling
    2. Requirements identification
      1. Transaction Identification

      2. Business Process Review

      3. Data requirements identification 

    1. Test planning and coordination
    2. Management and monitoring of test plans for all levels of testing
    3. Manage walkthroughs and reviews related to testing and implementation readiness
    4. Develop test scenarios and test scripts


  1. Preparation
    1. Data creation or data gathering
    2. Performance Test Tool Installation and Configuration (if applicable)
    3. Monitor tool configuration
    4. Scripting (including standards)
    5. Revise Schedule
    6. Dry runs (scheduling and execution)


  1. Execution
    1. Scenario execution
    2. Result gathering and analysis
    3. System fixing
    4. Conduct performance and load testing


  1. Conduct Knowledge Transfer
    1. Documentation
    2. Procedures
    3. Job Shadowing
    4. Best Practices
    5. Training


Mandatory Criteria:

  • Must have one of the following:

      • Post-Secondary University degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems

      • Post-Secondary College diploma in Computer Science or Management Information Systems

      • Certificate in Computer Science or Management Information Systems

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a performance tester in information system projects.

  • Must have a minimum of 36 months cumulative experience using at least 3 of the following products:

      • HP LoadRunner

      • HP Quick Test Pro

      • HP Test Director

      • HP Quality Center

      • HP Application Lifecycle Manager

      • HP Application Security Center

  • Must have experience as the lead tester on a minimum of 3 projects related to web based applications using automated testing tools.

  • Must have a minimum of 24 months cumulative experience creating each of the following:

      • Performance test strategies

      • Performance test plans

      • Performance test scenarios

      • Performance test scripts

      • Performance test schedules
